80% first serves in? this is not a realistic number, impossible. He will have to serve well, no doubt, but Federer handles big servers very well, he reads it well. He's tied for 1st in 'returning points won off 1st serves' for 2007 and consisnetly is top 5 in this category.
Once the ball is in play, Roger has a significant advantage---better court coverage (via technique more than anything), way better backhand, smarter and better hands at the net. Both have v good forehands-- Andy's is huge, Roger has more variety with his. There's a reason why Roger has dominated this series to the point where its laughable. Roddick's form coming in has been so so at best, good grief Tomas broke him twice in the first set!!
that said, i'm certainly rooting for an entertaining match, don't want to see that massacre witnessed at Melbourne Park again. Andy must not allow Roger to constantly dictate play. Try to take the ball earlier- for God's sake please Andy don't make 3-4 feet behind the baseline your home. Secondly, fuck it, go for your shots!!! you've only beatin' this guy once in 14 tries, what do you have to lose--POUND THAT FOREHAND. If you miss and the ue's are pilling on, you lose, but at least you tried here--not this bullshit reacting to what Federer is doing. Thirdly, please Andy don't come to the net on nonsense approach. As the match continues, as fatigue and frustration set in Vs Roger he consistently increases his frequency to the net irrespective of position on court.
it sure would be great for American tennis if Andy can somehow win this. Roger has come off to shaky starts in his last two matches. Their last yr battle at Flushing was V TIGHT-- a set a piece, Andy had plenty of chances in that critical 3rd set, failed over and over again. In the 4th he was a lost soul. If he can take that first set, confidence brimming and maybe believes who knows.
will Super Saturday be without an American male tennis player in 2007?
