Roddick has no chance. Federer 13-1 lifetime and one win for Roddick was years ago

I think the odds on Roddick are pretty low. They should be double that. I'd have expected at least +2000. He's got absolutely no chance. Only hope is that Fed gets injured.

I am seeing +450 at Olympic/the greek now. Could it have been bet down from +800?

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that. It's +900 at most books including Pinnacle.

20-1? You're harsh Rhino. I think Roddick's defense has improved alot recently and under the lights at home he has a chance.

I really have a feeling we get a classic tonight...

80% first serves in? this is not a realistic number, impossible. He will have to serve well, no doubt, but Federer handles big servers very well, he reads it well. He's tied for 1st in 'returning points won off 1st serves' for 2007 and consisnetly is top 5 in this category.

Once the ball is in play, Roger has a significant advantage---better court coverage (via technique more than anything), way better backhand, smarter and better hands at the net. Both have v good forehands-- Andy's is huge, Roger has more variety with his. There's a reason why Roger has dominated this series to the point where its laughable. Roddick's form coming in has been so so at best, good grief Tomas broke him twice in the first set!!

that said, i'm certainly rooting for an entertaining match, don't want to see that massacre witnessed at Melbourne Park again. Andy must not allow Roger to constantly dictate play. Try to take the ball earlier- for God's sake please Andy don't make 3-4 feet behind the baseline your home. Secondly, fuck it, go for your shots!!! you've only beatin' this guy once in 14 tries, what do you have to lose--POUND THAT FOREHAND. If you miss and the ue's are pilling on, you lose, but at least you tried here--not this bullshit reacting to what Federer is doing. Thirdly, please Andy don't come to the net on nonsense approach. As the match continues, as fatigue and frustration set in Vs Roger he consistently increases his frequency to the net irrespective of position on court.

it sure would be great for American tennis if Andy can somehow win this. Roger has come off to shaky starts in his last two matches. Their last yr battle at Flushing was V TIGHT-- a set a piece, Andy had plenty of chances in that critical 3rd set, failed over and over again. In the 4th he was a lost soul. If he can take that first set, confidence brimming and maybe believes who knows.

will Super Saturday be without an American male tennis player in 2007?

I hope it's entertaining.

I look at it like this. Guillermo Canas - Indian Wells vs. Federer. You could have got him at 32-1. He wins, it's an upset - but he's underrated because he's been under the radar due to his drug suspension. Fed made errors but Canas clearly had the game to frustrate the shit out of him, and the h2h was 1-1 at the time. Couple of weeks later it's Canas vs. Fed again in Miami. Canas is now a 12-1 shot. Same style of play that can hurt Roger, clearly in great form, a 2-1 H2H and a Fed that was looking a bit shaky.

Books are going 8-1 on a guy whose clearly not good enough to cope with the best player in the world. Essentially a one dimensional player. Worse still, that single dimension is one that Federer handles extremely well. As has been demonstrated by 13 wins to 1 loss.

Roddick's defence may have improved but so what... He's not Nadal or Canas. He doesn't have the movement, anticipation or necessary groundstrokes to play defensive tennis, which for him means being camped about 3 feet behind the baseline as Hope1 said and hitting some very weak shots. He's had a cakewalk draw, he more often than not gets outplayed on the baseline, his approach shots are often short, and his volleys a complete mess. He doesn't have the gameplan to beat Fed. Even if he did, he doesn't have the 'game' to execute it. The only thing people are hoping for is a lights out serving performance, and having the advantage of a nighttime crowd on Ashe vocally supporting him. Maybe he wins a set or keeps it close. I hope he does, because Fed has had it so easy, and this domination is not fun for a tennis fan. But as a bettor, considering the matchup, the H2H, and the form of both - I think it would be a miracle if Roddick wins. And I sure as hell would want bigger than +900 odds for a miracle.

(This is the ultimate jinx post... Roddick will win 6-0, 6-1, 6-0)

He's on fire..

42 winners to 19 unforced errors! He had a 132 MPH fastest serve... unbelievable for him. 2nd set was amazing. 18 winners to 4 unforced errors. He's just in such great form - found rhythm in his game, he's hitting aggressively and so cleanly, aswell as looking to come to the net more often which is a huge plus. Only problem is he has the occasional mental lapse and will lose an easy service game or go 0-40 down. I hope for a good match if Fed makes it through.

Best of Luck to Nikolay to get the job done on Friday

I can once again feel comfortable wearing my Roddick jersey out in public (unlike my Blake)

Damn good try my boy

...now deliver that charisma in the interview... one thing Roger can't do

Very good effort from Roddick. He had his chances, especially in that first set TB. But, as is proved all the time, you HAVE to take the few chances you get when you play Federer.
